Garden in Bloom: A Photo Journal from the Garden
There’s something undeniably magical about a garden in full bloom.
It’s not always the harvest or the big garden projects that fill my soul—though those have their own rewards. Sometimes, it’s the simple stillness of an early morning walk, coffee in hand, dew on the leaves, and the sound of chickens softly clucking from the run. Or the sudden burst of color when the cosmos decide to show off in the corner of the herb bed.
Today, I want to invite you into a slower side of gardening—a rich, soul-nourishing journal from the garden itself. These are the quiet moments, the overlooked beauty, and the snapshots that don’t always make it into a tutorial or planting guide. Just pure Fieldstone life.

☀️ Morning Light, Fresh Dew, and Growing Things
The garden first thing in the morning? She’s a different creature entirely.
That golden haze, the soft glow that touches each tomato leaf and basil blossom—it’s something a phone camera can barely do justice to (though I try!). Some mornings I walk out with the dogs, Mumbles and Bamboo, trailing behind me, and I’m just stunned by the peaceful beauty of it all.
Over on TikTok, I’ve shared a few of these quiet moments—especially those misty, dreamy mornings when even the hummingbirds seem to whisper. You’ll find little clips labeled #citytocountrylife or #mumblesandbamboo where I just let the garden do the talking.
🌼 Zinnias, Bees, and a Riot of Color
This year’s flower beds have absolutely exploded.
The zinnias are especially loud this season—hot pinks, sunny oranges, and velvety reds popping against the green. They’ve become a magnet for bees, butterflies, and even the occasional hummingbird (I caught one on camera the other day!).
Over on YouTube, I just posted a full tour of the flower beds—“Garden in Bloom: Late Summer Beauty”—and it’s been so fun to share not just how they look, but how they feel. (There’s music, some giggling, and even a chicken cameo or two. 🐓)
💬 If you haven’t already, pop over and subscribe to the channel—I share everything from planting and DIYs to food and family life here on the homestead.
🐓 Chickens in the Garden (And On Camera)
My hens are part of the aesthetic, whether they like it or not.
They’ve taken to lounging under the rosemary, pecking through the mulch paths, and occasionally trying to sneak into the herb garden for a basil snack. Mumbles the Shih Tzu tries to herd them. Bamboo the sleepy one… just watches.
They’ve even become mini stars on TikTok (seriously, one video of “Let’s Clean the Coop” had folks laughing and asking for more chicken routines).
🧺 From Garden to Kitchen: The Beauty of the Bounty
It’s not just about how it grows—it’s what you do with it, too.
This week, I harvested a counter full of cherry tomatoes, a bundle of lemon balm, and three oversized cucumbers. And by evening, we had grilled veggie skewers and fresh herb lemonade on the table.
You’ll find clips of our simple cooking life on YouTube Shorts and TikTok—like making mayo from scratch, grilling pizza with garden toppings, or whipping up rum-marinated cherries (yes, that happened!).
💡 PS: If you ever wonder how I plan my meals around the garden—check out our “Sunday Breakfast on the Homestead” or “Quick Meals from the Garden” reels. They’re cozy, honest, and very Fieldstone.
🍂 Garden Projects, Quiet Joys, and Simple Days
Sometimes the best part of homesteading isn’t the food or the flowers—it’s the rhythm.
Washing eggs. Snipping mint. Cleaning out the coop. Watering the beds while the sky turns peach. These are the moments that don’t go viral, but they fill me up—and I hope they fill you, too.

📣 Final Thoughts from the Garden Gate
“Garden in Bloom” isn’t just about what’s growing. It’s a feeling. It’s about celebrating the beauty in simple things—dew on kale leaves, the fluff of a chicken dust bath, tomatoes still warm from the sun.
